12:31 pm - the continuing adventures of this weekend blowing
saturday i went out again to try and find yon holy gas connector. i told the guy at adlers about my home depot misadventures and he was like well of course they fucked up, you shoulda come here, blah blah, i'll steer ya right. so he gives me what i need. i ask if he's sure it's the right one and he says yeah, and i ask if he can take it out of the bag to compare with the old one i have with me, and he does and says they are kosher. so yay. then i ask about the explosion-proof bulbs and he recommends some place that is closed til monday and that nobody else will probably have it. okie doke. so i go home and OH GEE GOLLY this connector doesn't work either. instead of being too small like home depot's, it is too big. lols. so i call the place and i'm like hey you sold me the wrong thing after all, and apparently they don't have any different sizes there and he gives me the names of a couple other places to try (which are closed til monday).
MEANWHILE since the old connector has been removed, our stove is having an extended naptime, and there is no way to cook dinner for the house (unless you wanted to like microwave everybody's portions individually) (not to mention that our microwave is slowly dying and naturally the first thing to go is the fucking start button. because who ever needs that, right?). so anyway, gracie and heather went to cook at findy because they are dears, and since it was cold and gross out and nobody wanted to make the walk, i drove to findy to pick up the food when they were done. get back and i get stuck driving over the giant icewall in front of our driveway. some people come out to push me back into the street to try again, but a plastic thing pops partway off the car and starts making horrible whirring grinding sounds. it is clearly getting caught up in something. i try to pry it out, try to wedge it in, no luck. i don't know if something is actually broken or it's just a useless plastic piece that is hitting against a gear or something and could be simply yanked out. but i really didn't feel like worrying about it at 8:30pm saturday so i said fuck it, drove into the driveway, turned off the car, and went in. dinner was tasty.
sunday confirmed that i am very lonely. but i went to findy, had dinner and nice conversation, ate 2 oranges, and took a loaf of bread and thoreau's walden, so that was pretty good. fokion was in a plane crash, but i guess everyone is okay. i fell asleep reading a book.

thats exactly whats up with ours, too. only you'd think two 50 yo adults with paying jobs could be bothered to replace the damn thing.
