i don't really see one person alone in that company being evil, but rather the particular composition of people they've developed..

reminds me of this story from clive barker's "books of blood", where thousands of people are put together with ropes to create this huuge evil giant. i first read it in my early teens and it freaked me out.

oh, i learned english (that was last semester.. twas great to finally stop speaking in meow).. this is just learning how to be a cultured swine english

quote by poet sharon olds:

[re: the 'new way' of poetry from about 20-30 years ago] "it's like when i was two, and someone showed me the Ration book for food, and said 'this is how we're going to be eating now'. I took the Ration book and went over in the corner and ate the stamps. I thought this was the new way to have food"

of course, when I was two, you didn't have to be told stamps were food to stick them in your mouth..

by the time i was too i had probaby already tried eating anything i could get my hands on. soap, candles, cigarettes. probably stamps too.

i've done enough shakespeare, mostly in highschool, to slaughter a horse (? it's 6am, and i'm tired, shh). i can pick my courses a lil more now, and at the moment, i'm trying to avoideth shakespeare.

thou art a wise man. and you're wrong about the 6 a.m. thing. according to my computer it's almost 1 pm and my computer is never wrong.

never wrong? but i thought you were running xp. hm, you know, my puter never told me when daylight savings ended.. it used to do that. and it seems to be exactly synchronized with my cable box.. now the cable box i know is controlled by shaw, and so it's probly pretty accurate, but i don't recall synchronizing my puter with anything.. does xp perhaps make a call out to a server to do a time synch now? that'd be cool.

yeah. xp does that time synch thing. you can set it to synch time with time.microsoft.com or time.nist.gov. of course i chose NIST...

sweet, yet another small industry displaced. i remember having a program to do that.. would this be in the date/time cpl, or elsewhere? any other nifty things it does i should be aware of?

yeah it's in the time/date cpl. third tab ("internet time"). but i wouldn't be surprised it time.microsoft.com gets the time from NIST as well. :)

(found the tab in date/time) interesting, synching with time.nist.gov took about half a second, but it hung for a bit on microsoft for at least 10.. other than the obvious "i don't want my time set by satan" reasons, it seems that nist may be a lil less overcrowded, esp considering most people wouldn't bother changing it. thanks for the tip

you are welcome. i chose NIST over satan as well. :) somehow NIST seems more reliabel when it comes to stuff like this. and you're right about not many people changing it. i guess you'd really have to be a geek to do that. we're the cool dudes.

heh, indeed.. i'm ashamed i hadn't found it myself.. but after all these years, who'd have known the time/date cpl would actually change? weird stuff..
