saturday was a suckified fencing tournament - i felt sick, only got an hour sleep (as a general rule, when we're leaving in the morning about the time i usually go to bed, i'm in trouble), it was ridiculously hot in the brown gym [1], and just general blah.. so i fenced 3 bouts. the first one i lost, but performed fairly well in all the same. the second one i was getting too tired to hold up my sword after the 1st touch (which iirc was the only one i scored against him. there mightve been a double too, i forget), adn hte 3rd i coudlnt concentrate at all and got bageled (lost 5-0). andy said i'd have 1 more bout than evan would be subbed in for me. i said just sub him in now, went and laid down for 4 hours or so. overall the team did pretty well - women's foil got 3rd place, adn beth got the women's sabre team to 7th place all on her own (she was supposed to be in the C slot but the A and B fencers were both out sick[2] so she got moved up to A), so yay beth!
today i have wasted. entirely. it's pretty fuckin sad.

[1] apparently they dont have ac, they have some air exchange thingamabob. since it was fairly warm outside, the doohicky was not performing very well (it wasnt as hot outside as inside, mind you, just enough to confuse it). so it was, i would guess, high 90s in there. not the best temp for athletic performances in heavy outfits. a couple people on the team almost fainted, and i'm sure i would have if i'd kept going.
[2] the way this tourny worked was each team gets 3 fencers, ranked in order of ability (by their coach, it's not official). and each letter group is pooled against itself. so she was against people 2 orders of skill higher than herself, adn ended up being 1 touch short of going on to the finals
