i've never understood how bands can write one or two AMAZING songs, and then everything else is subpar. where does it all go?

this post sponsored by oleander, and their two great songs "why i'm here" and "never again". and now that i think about it, by white town and "your woman" the ONE song on that cd that isnt bloody horrible

but it could be by lots of other people.

any sort of artistic field has this occurance, now that i think about it. do people run out of inspiration that quickly?
state: headache. eyeache. neckache. impending illness.
np: Velvet Underground - High Fidelity Soundtrack - - Oh! Sweet Nuthin'

(2 shots upside the head | en garde!)

because people will buy a shitty cd for one or two songs..and they still get money. me..i download the maybe one or two good songs for free onto my computer. i refuse to buy some gargage cd. i think everyone should do this. maybe then..people will create cds with not one or two good songs..but they will work hard on the whole cd. then i would buy this CD.

my favorite example: fastball.

so they had like 2 songs on the radio..stupid me buys the cd. the rest of the cd is horrible and offensive to my ears. i will not waste my money like that ever again. just the fact that *I* own a fastball cd is pretty scary in and of itself.

but if they're good enough to write cool songs in the first place, why don't they write more, dammit. even purely from a money standpoint- if they have a couple good songs, people will only buy the cd based on those songs, and word will get around that the rest is crappy. whereas if the whole cd is good, people will buy it for the singles, like the whole thing, maybe lend it to people, word will get around that it's a great cd, and everyone will love them and buy them candy
