12:44 pm - bush won. kerry conceded.
"President Bush's decisive margin of victory makes this the first presidential election since 1988 in which the winner received a majority of the popular vote," said Card, referring to the White House victory by Bush's father, President George H.W. Bush. "And in this election, President Bush received more votes than any presidential candidate in our country's history."

so here are the numbers from strafford county, wherein dwells dover adn i believe unh as well:
Bush - 1,121 - 49%
Kerry - 1,121 - 50%
does anyone else see something odd about this?

according to CNN exit polls, 7% of republicans voted for kerry, while 10% of democrats voted for bush. let me repeat that: a higher percent of democrats voted for bush than republicans voted against him. this surprises me.

and now i go to a job interview at classy walmart.

50% shouldn't be enough to be President, period

that's from the town of strafford, not the county
all the towns are listed as counties.

ohh okay that makes sense. that would be a helluva lot of counties, now that you mention it. still doesn't explain how they got the exact same number of votes but kerry won

well, could that have been just because other towns/counties in NH decided the state for kerry, so kerry was proclaimed winner in all the towns regardless of the numbers? where did that 1% go though?!

no the problem is, they got the exact same number of votes, but FOR THAT TOWN it says kerry got 50% and bush got 49%

that's why he was declared winner - there's other towns where he got LESS votes and is listed as winner - but it doesn't explain why he got a higher % for the same number of votes

The results of those CNN exit polls don't really suprise me. The democrats ran a crappy ass race and the GOP did what they do and they did it damn well.
and who knows about stats like that anyway. I'm technically a registered Republican, and i voted for Nader, so who knows.

eh, it went allright. i skipped out on the 3rd interview (apparently walmart gives 3 interviews for every job. who knew) cuz i got: Other Jobs!
i am now a proud(?) employee of macy's and of calendar club. calendar club is just as useless as it sounds: a store in the mall that sells calendars. i have no idea how this place stays in business. i think the last calendar i bought was 5th grade. but anyway, this looks to be my ideal job; every time i go in, they're just standing around bitching about stuff and reading and playing solitaire on the cell-phone kiosk outside the store. the manager is 21 and a cute spaz who swears a ton, even at customers. so i'm pretty psyched for this job. they could only give me 15-20 hrs though, so i am going with macy's too even though they will probably suck. but my friend steph works there, so that's cool
