02:53 am - HELLO I AM A CHEF
so the other day i decided i should make stirfry. i drove to shopnsave and got ginormous things of potatos and mushrooms because they were on sale. i have no concept of proper portions and serving sizes, so i didnt know how much i would need anyway[2]. suffice to say, i now have enough for multiple tons of stirfries. but anyway! so i just fried up some potatos and mushrooms and cheese and seasonings (needs onion) and i was eating it and it was yummy, when i suddenly thought hey, some chocolate would be good in this! then i realized that would be ridiculous and probably terrible. but i kept thinking it, so i tossed some in, and hot damn if it's not delicious after all. i rule!

oh, and the new girl emma at work is suuuuuuper pretty, and seems cool, and is an indie snob[1], and had to buy new pants today cuz jen spilled soup all over her.

[1] there is a stereo in the main store. it generally does not get used except during closing (when jen cranks techno) for some reason, but when i work there i put on the radio. i don't work there very often though, for whatever reason. anyway though, i was there today and went to put in a cd (i had some cds in my bag that i'd brought in to play on wunh thursday) and jen said that dan the owner had told her the other day that if SRV (the company we are franchised from) caught us playing non-approved music, we would be fined 500$. this is super lame. what makes it funny though is the music we ARE allowed to play. they sent 3 approved cds: some crappy xmas music, jimmy buffett, and chicago. of all the music in the universe, THAT is what they have vetted and found acceptable.

[2] i now know that 2 potatos is approximately one meal. chop em up, toss on mushroom bits til it looks like a good mix. i also learned that it takes longer to cook potatos than i'd realized, especially since we don't have a frying pan so i was using a pot.

lately i always think it's a different day of the week than it is.
