08:24 am - power law problems
problems such as homelessness, pollution, etc may be easier to solve than we think.

on a very tangential sidenote, i saw v for vendetta today. i'm not sure if i liked it or not (aside from the climax, which i loved, and the romance subplot, which was crap), but i will certainly recommend it. it's kind of a dumbed down 1984 with a super(ish?)hero plunked in. one thing i'm still chewing on is that the bad guys are given as 100% bad, and the good guy as 100% good, and yet they used essentially the same methods and both had theoretically laudable goals. the difference seems to rest solely in their personalities

I agree that the romance subplot was crap. It was believable that he would love her, but her loving him had a sort of Stockholm Syndrome ring to it.
