|04:32 pm - familial|
my brother is intensely morally conversative. i'm not sure how long he has been, maybe he always was and i didn't notice, but i just got off the phone with him and i'm pretty sure this is the first time i've heard anyone say the phrase "perverted sodomites" out loud. he isn't a bastard about it - no God Hates Fags - he wants to help people, in the ways he thinks they need it; he wants everyone to be healthy and happy. but... yuck. my liberal spidey sense is tingling.
np: Go Go Go Go! - First Came The Hunger... Then The Desire. - Ricky Wilson
aaahahaha "perverted sodomites."
also, many of my clients at work are extremely conservative.
But it hurts more when it's *family*
Most of my cousins are conservatives. They thought Clinton was a monster "because he lied" but think George Bush is just fine.
You gotta wonder about some people's reasoning.
heh - "perverted sodomites." Is it possible he doth protest too much?
i was just saying that because his brother and my clients share a common bond of the same happyfuntimes mental illness.
but i totally know what you mean. my brother is gay and thank goodness my family is awesome about it. i don't know what i would do if i had conservatives for parents. probably throw an entire gay pride parade at their heads.
My cousin conservatives are practically satires of what typical Republicans are all about. I cringe everytime I hear them say something typically mean spirited about immigrants, Bill Clinton, homeless people or general hate mongering against liberals.
Considering how many kids they all have, the odds are that a couple of them will be gay or marry an immigrant or maybe even need welfare or food stamps. Wonder how they'll reconcile that.
btw I think having a gay pride parade is a great idea for any bigot
i really hope their kids all turn out to be gay anarchists that try and overthrow the government!
i don't think that is anything to do with his conservatism. it's more from the fact that every five years or so he will join a new religion (without abandoning the old one, mind you) so he keeps picking up new Moral Laws. though a few years ago god told him it was okay for him to eat meat again, even though he was a buddhist. so i guess things can change
your mother sucks cocks in hell.

no. just that one.
as far as i know, he doth not protest too much. anything's possible
I've got some conservative family members, too. One I'll openly debate with. The others have an understanding that we don't talk about it.
I feel for ya. It's tough.
it's not as horrible as all that. he was very unforceful about it, with "i know you don't believe this, and you're going to do what you think is right, and that's fine, but this is what i believe and i feel it would be wrong for me to not say so" disclaimers every few minutes. i was more surprised than anything

I'm glad you called your brother. I assume it was because it was his birthday. He used to be very liberal. Things change--apparently.
