so................ tonite sucked.

going to deftones/godsmack, i'm all psyched. with scott, michelle, adn her lil brother mike, we're in her new (used) car. the drive down is suposedly about 1 1/2 hours. so after about an hour, at lexington, the car suddenly stops working entirely. the gas pedal does nothing, it won't start, nothign works. so we're pulled over on an offramp, and don't know what to do. we walk to a hotel close by (bout 5 min) and call AAA. we're told itll be about an hour til they get there. now, if he gets there in an hour and fixes it fast, we would still be there in time for deftones to come on. we're gonna miss puddle of mudd, but thats not a real big deal.
so, 2 hours later, a tow truck fiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiinally shows up. and the driver is this really sketchy character. he gets there and the 1st thing he says to us is "so, where do you want it towed?" doesnt even try looking at it in case it's something simple. so we ask him if he could have a look first. he glances at the engine, tries starting the car, and says it's the timer belt, which will cost us about 500-900$ to fix. not good. anywayz, so he asks us where we want it towed, and we say manch, which is about 60 miles away.
now, AAA's towing rate is 3$/mile wiht the 1st three miles free. so we expect him to say itll be a lil under 180. he says something over 250. this is questioned, we point out that's not AAA's rate, and he says he's not affiliated with AAA, he's only there cuz the local police called him to come get us. f?!
rather than pay the 250+, he tows us to a sunoco station about a mile away, and charges a 'flat rate' of 75$ which he says AAA will reimburse. so, the guy at the station informs us that a) that guy DID work for AAA, he was trying to scam us with the higher towing rate b) it's not hte timing belt, it's probably the alternator whcih will cost bout 80 to fix, again the guy was trying to scam us. so that's where michelle's car is now. we then waited about 1 1/2 hours for her dad to come get us and bring us back. it was damn cold at this point, and we'd been standing around waiting for things for 4 hours plus. ugh.
so the plan is scott and michelle will call 101 in the morning to see if htey can't sobstory some free tickets out of them (i already have mine from the voter registration thing) for the saturday show, and we'll go to that. so i get home, and there's a note that cumberladn called and i CAN"T have saturday off.

::comforts the dan:: if i weren't working and they'd be willing to show me everything over and over and over again i'd cover if it's any consolation. which it prolly isn't. but in any case, cars are stupid... never trust them. and guys are stupid... never trust them. and dirty old men are stupid... never trust them. remember those things dan, and you will live a full life... or at least be slightly amused... or be annoyed to no end... either way. i'm tired. excuse this comment... have i written anything yet?

AAA sucks.. i assume there was a membership? the CAA memberships include 5 free tows a year, tho they probly wouldn't tow it 8 days away.. anyway, sucks, sorry to hear. if it helps, i do not get to see any of these bands, and work wouldn't give me saturday off because i'm not scheduled. ok, i'm a bastard
